My wish of visiting Angkor Wat finally came true last year. l could not get a place to stay in Phi Phi island during Christmas, hence l flew to Siem Reap. l count myself lucky else l will encounter the Tsunami during Boxing Day.

Angkor Wat is the name of a temple in Angkor. Angkor means 'Holy City' or in modern days refer to the capital city of the Khmer Empire existed between 9th and 12th centuries. The temples ruins in Angor are the remnants of the Angkorian capital.

In Angkor, there are numerous temple ruins. You can easily purchase a 7-day pass (USD60) and just visiting all the ruins and get 'temple burnout'. However, most people will just purchase a 2-day pass (USD40) and visit the popular ruins. The popular ruins are Angkor Thom, Angkor Wat, Ta Prohm, Banteay Kdei, Phnom Bakheng, Preah Khan and Banteay Srey.

Other than temple ruins, there is actually nothing much to do in Siem Reap town. The whole town depends on Angkor for a living. You can easily walking through the town within 1 day.

Belows are some of the pictures l took durng the trip. To get a brief desccription, just place the cursor over the picture.
